MATCHBOX lesney superfast - Blaze Buster 1975. Made in England
Blaze Buster was one of a long line of Matchbox Fire Engines and given that it was released in the mid-seventies it is follows the trend of Matchbox cars and trucks of the time of not being a model of a real truck, rather a made-up one. It was released in 1975 and up to 1980 was bright red with mainly a plated interior and an unpainted base. The ladder was either yellow, black or white. during this time some also had black or dark grey bases. From 1980 to 1982 the colour was dark red with a white interior and a black or grey base. In 1983 the colour became light red with a black base and a dark yellow ladder, some of these last models do not have the 'FIRE' labels and have a number 32 label instead.

This car was first produced in 1971 and remained in the range until 1977. The paintwork is always metallic blue however the base can be painted silver or unpainted, the windows can be clear or amber coloured and the stickers can be two arrow heads with racing number 86, racing number 69 from 69d (Turbo Fury) or scorpion labels. The ones to look for are the scorpions as they are harder to find and consequently worth more.

The Land-Rover Series II, 12b, was released in 1959 and remained in the range until 1965 when the Series 2a Station Wagon replaced it. There are some versions to look out for. The prize is the grey plastic wheel version which is not common but a premium version as the crimped axle on black plastic wheels is less frequently found than the rounded axle end version.

This BMC-Pininfarina 1800 predates the Citroen CX by seven years - one wonders how BMC may have fared had they the courage to put this beauty into production - it would have certainly appealed in Europe and undoubtedly would have created a high-technology reputation for the (by then) struggling manufacturer. Matchbox started making it in 1969, you will see it in gold, peach and orange and sometimes with Gulf and racing number 17 decals.
The BMC 1800 Pininfarina (56c) was introduced in 1969 in metallic gold with Superfast wheels. There was no transition model at number 56. The Fiat 1500 was discontinued with regular wheels and this car replaced it. The car was recoloured to peach and then orange for the rest of the run from 1971 to 1973 and orange is the most commonly found colour. Look out for peach coloured cars or gold with Gulf decals and racing number 17. There is a pre-production prototype in silver, yellow or blue which is quite rare and valuable
